Donovan House DC

DC IN GENERAL

Sitting right on Thomas circle, the Donovan House is in a pretty sweet location as far as I am concerned. The walk from there to 14th and U can be a bar hoppers paradise if you know what to look for. The hotel itself can be a little cumbersome to get to in a car/valet, but they do a pretty good job of flagging you in (if it’s rush hour or if there are other cars already lined up in valet though, man it’s difficult). The lobby is small but it does have some nice couches and some sweet hanging chairs that I simply love. The restaurant entrance (Zentan-sushi) is right off the lobby and they have a nice look and a decent bar…always seems so dead though.
The rooms can look right out onto Thomas circle, which can be really nice actually (DC views are mostly nonexistent), or they can look at pretty much nothing. The standard rooms are pretty normally sized, while the executive rooms are pretty much the same but much bigger and with better views. The premier rooms and up are very large and offer couches, cool coffee table like ottomans, sweet modern bathtubs (in addition to the shower) and other things like that. All of the rooms seem to have this really interesting cocoon like shower that you walk in to like you are walking into an ear or something. They are all white and they jut out into the room…it’s actually a pretty nice touch. All rooms also have ginormous TV’s. Like maybe the biggest TV’s I’ve seen in any hotel. All the rooms also have low platform beds and cool bedroom mood lighting. Mini bars are well stocked. Room service is not 24 hours but does go till about 11. The pay per view system is sick and they do have 24 hour action.
On the roof they have a pool which is pretty small but the layout is nice (dark wood flooring with a decent amount of chairs). The rooftop deck acts as a lounge at night as well. The bar is pretty big, the views are cool, and they even set up a satellite bar on busy nights.

Notes

-This has to be the best Kimpton Hotel in DC.
